I live between the sea and the countryside, walking one or the other every day. This is where and when I find my main sources of inspiration.
I fill my sketchbooks with photos, drawings and found items, which are the foundation of my work. It's curating the good bits that is the challenge.
My love of hand stitching can be seen in nearly every item that I produce, and I enjoy the demands of working in relief and three dimensions.
A collection of small items - hats pins, button hooks, glove stretchers, rubber buttons, fans, sugar tongs and many others all of which we don’t seem to use now where the starting point of my research.
This led me to a renewed interest in millinery and related items.
